Stillness

It’s the dew on the trees when first light soaks the sky.
It’s in the lake’s surface, soft layered with ice.
It’s the brisk of the forest, before the wind starts to sing.
It’s the beat of our heart, that allows us to breathe.
It’s the moon at it’s crescent, it’s beauty and grace.
It’s the world that stops spinning, or the moment it breaks.
It’s that second we take for ourselves everyday.
That moment our soul starts to realise its fate.
It’s the light we’re born into, that first breath we take.
A hike in the mountains, when we need to escape.
It’s the moment the wolf howls, shifting our sight.
It’s the peace of the shadows, that make up the night.
It’s the breath of our spirit, as it reaches beyond.
The stillness.
The quiet.
Where we crave to belong.

Author’s Notes

Hey you!

So! What did you think? I actually wrote Stillness for a friend of mine in India. When she suggested the theme, my heart smiled a little, because it reminded me of how crazy the world can be! We forget to be still occasionally, forget to breathe. It gave me a moment writing it where I was able to just feel grateful for everyting good the world still has! It’s easy to focus on the negative sometimes.

Along the edge of a dream I’ll see you.
